CHASE FOR THE GOLD
The drivers of the V8 stock cars tour ventured to Ringwood raceway for the last round of the 2021 season. And as is becoming custom on the v8 tour the final round is where the Championships are decided.
The first race of the day was the “Chase for the Gold” Championship. A race where the drivers are gridded as per their results from each of the final races at each of the previous 14 rounds.
Anthony Filby was the driver with the most points in said qualifying races and was to start the race from pole position.
Chase for the GOLD championship final.
The drivers were welcomed onto the circuit one at a time with Craig Robinson giving each driver an introduction to the crowd.
356 Filby led the field to the green flag and in doing so confirmed that he was the 2021 V8 stock cars tour series point champion. But it was 15 Brad Moss who made his way to the lead before the end of the first lap from row 2.
98 Peter Scott, 85 Colin Moss and 227 defending Champion Sam Wainwright all battled with each other and Filby as they gave chase to 15 Moss. Scott moved to third and began to chase down Filby in second as Moss stretched his lead further. 258 James Griggs the Outlaw Hotrod driver making his debut in the other car owned by Colin Moss was starting to get some speed after a slow start but at the same time was beginning to drop some fluid onto the racing surface. The fluid caught a few drivers unaware. One being the race leader. Sam Chambers, Chris Snell and Jimmy Rispin were in a race long battle with Jeff Johnson which led to many overtaking situations and great racing throughout the field.
At half distance as 15 Moss made his way into turns 3 and 4 he lost control of his car on the fluid ontrack and entered into a spin. Allowing both Filby and Scott past. With 98 Peter Scott now in the lead FIlby made his move into turn 1 taking the lead for the second time of the race. This lead was however shortly lived as he also found himself a victim of the track surface also spinning out of the lead, Anthony Filby gathered it all up back into 3rd place. Moss saw an opportunity and dived up the inside of Scott and into the lead. On the very next lap the yellow flags came out for outgoing champion Sam Wainwright as he also spun and was collected 258 Griggs.
From the restart 15 Brad Moss jumped out to another lead, this time a cautious effort was made to keep the car pointing in the right direction as he raced to the win unopposed. 98 Peter Scott found himself with brake issues before the end of the race and Filby moved back into 2nd with Colin Moss moving Scott off the racing line on the last lap to round out the top three. In what could be described as the best race seen on Tour since its inception. The race can be watched in all its glory here .https://youtu.be/JrVa0AW8e_o
1st 15 Brad Moss, 2nd 356 Anthony Filby, 3rd Colin Moss, 155 Jimmy Rispin, 227 Sam Wainwright, 536, 168, 98, 406, 258
Another action packed v8 stock cars tour race with everything you’d want to see. The race had an early leader in Jeff Johnson on the Green 536 car. 168 Sam Chambers was chasing down the leader as the other drivers battled it out further down the field. Peter Scott made his way to 3rd place as 15 Brad Moss started his first race from the back of the field made his way to 4th place.
The race long battle between 356 Anthony Filby and 85 Colin Moss was like a passing of the sword as the outgoing silver roof and the new point champion raced side by side nearly all race long. It really should be seen https://youtu.be/ZISrfEFzZfU .
Peter Scott 98 made his way into the lead closely followed by 15 Moss, But Scott looked to be struggling with brakes again and as 155 Rispin span on turns 3 and 4 Moss made his move for the lead. Once to the front Moss again drove well to victory. Colin Moss eventually got the better of Filby for third.
1st 15 Brad Moss, 98, 85, 356, 227, 536, 406, 168, 155
406 Chris Snell led the field to the green flag. Closely followed by 168 and 536. The chasing pack were once again headed by 98 Peter Scott with 15 Brad Moss and 85 Colin Moss battling for the race. 258 James Griggs was back out in this race and was making his way through the field from the rear firstly moving 227 before having a great race with 356.
Action from the front bumper of Colin Moss was the highlight of the race as he gave 15 Brad Moss a lot of attention with a hard hitting race.
This is how the race wound down as no one was able to catch the run away lead in 406 Chris Snell as he added to his previous winnig brace earlier in the year.
1st 406 Chris Snell, 98, 15, 85 , 258, 277, 168, 536
