The V8 stock cars tour started it's 4th year at a new venue. Standlake Arena in Oxford was the destination and a great reception from the organisers and fans alike.
11 Teams entered the event with 2 new drivers making their V8 Tour Debut.
The Green flagged dropped on the year and the cars all roared into action. 536 Jeff Johnson and new driver 522 Paul Collins took up the early lead. Fastly followed by 406 Chris Snell and 168 Sam Chambers.
Snell moved to the lead on lap 5. The action towards the rear of the field was a fierce battle. 15 Brad Moss moved through from the rear of the field to become the chaser and try to close down Snell's large lead. A lead that was unsommounceable in the end. 98 Peter Scott moved back past Moss in the closing stages for 2nd.

522 Paul Collins took up the lead in the opening stages, But again it was the fast charging 406 Chris Snell that made his way to the front. 98 Peter Scott and 15 Brad Moss lead the pack of chasers with 356 Anthony Filby and 227 Sam Wainwright staying close by.
As the race settled down in the middle stages the chase was on. The lead of 406 was slowly being eat into by Scott. Snell went wide out of the last bend and Scott moved into the lead.
The closing stages were next and 15 Moss and Winwright were applying the pressure to the race leader, But the elder statesman was never going to crack and raced his way to his first victory of the year.

The drivers were now fully aware of the challenges of the Oxfordshire venue and the race started at electric pace. Again it was 522 Paul Collins out in front. Jeff Johnson in the Green 536 was looking better than previously as was 85 Colin Moss and 2021 series champion 356 Anthony Filby.
15 Moss and Scott clash into turn 1 just before mid race ending Scott's race. And it was 15 Brad Moss showing his Gold roof for the first time chasing down the leaders.
Moss reeled in the leader and with 3 laps to go moved into the lead where he would stay until the chequers.

What a great day it was. And with Paul Collins moving over to the V8 stock cars tour for 2022 it will be exciting to see him #ONTOUR this year. Also we welcome 852 Judge Campbell Keeping to the series. Judge is driving the 2nd entry from Team Monster and made a great debut in the series.
Continuing from last time out the teams and drivers of the V8 stock cars tour headed back to Ringwood Raceway. Saturday nights under the lights are always a special time on tour. The racing looks super fast and the crowd that come down into the pits are always excited to see our cars.
418 Ben Edwards was making his debut on tour. If you haven't seen his car look it out on our Instagram page, It's a beautiful addition to the #Tour. Richard Keeping was driving the 852 car this week because Judge was unfit to participate this week.
Bwaaaah the biggest field of cars to race at Ringwood raceway on tour blasted down into turn 1 for the first time in 2022. Early race leader 522 Paul Collins set the pace with 536 Jeff Johnson in hot pursuit. At the end of lap 1 Johnson was at the front, 85 Colin Moss was the front runner from the rear with 15 Brad Moss, 406 Chris Snell and 356 Anthony Filby also coming close behind.
Johnson was out in front and looking to be cruising until the waved yellows were out for a stranded 418 Ben Edwards car. Closing the field up. On the re-start 85 Moss went to the front and 356 Filby and 98 Scott moved through to 3rd and 4th. The race continued to wind down and the cars fanned out. the drama was over as the drivers all found their rhythm.

Unfortunately some of the teams were unable to get out for heat 2, But the drivers that did make it out put on a fantastic show. Early race leader 536 Jeff Johnson was being chased by 168 Sam Chambers who was the long distance visitor for the evening. 98 Peter Scott was the first to break free and give chase to the leaders. 85 Colin Moss, 356 Anthony Filby and 522 Paul Collins were 3 wide at one point going into turn 1. As the race wound down to the last few laps. Scott moved to the front where he would stay to the end. Paul Collins had a meeting with the Dorset fence with 2 laps to go.

Not dis-similar to the previous race Johnson moved to the front early on with Scott and Filby in hot pursuit, 852b Richard Keeping was having a much better drive from the back and was making his way forward. 168 Sam Chambers retired with Gearbox issues as Scott hit the front. Filby had to battle his way past Johnson which helped Scott stretch his lead. 85 Moss moved past 536 Johnson and the race settled down. Peter Scott closed the race out with his 6th feature final on tour.

A 10 lap sprint race was offered to close out the day. This race is the qualifier for the chase for the Gold championship grid at the end of the year.
Johnson came so, So close to getting his first win on tour but it was the man of the night Peter Scott who got past Johnson with a lap to go.

This is our usual starting point of the V8 stock cars tour season, But this year is rounds 3 and 4. Joining us for the first time is 785 James "Jambo" Taylor. Also the first rounds on dirt in 2022 with a couple drivers venturing out on the loose for the first time. Long distance traveller for Sunday was 536 Jeff Johnson from Somerset.
The car rolled out onto track for the first race of the weekend. the drivers were going for it with the Brampton track Champion Anthony Filby bursting through to the lead. Sam Wainwright was his closest challenger as the race wound down to a finish.

After the drivers had had their first taste of dirt in 2022, Heat 2 was a slightly different story. this time it was Jeff Johnson and Sam Chambers who set the pace with Johnson taking command. Stretching out his lead all the way to the flag. Filby, Moss' and Wainwright were the chasing pack but no one was getting close to the eventual winner.

An eventful race that saw heat 1 winner and Brampton track champion 356 Anthony filby and HEat 2 winner 536 Jeff Johnson make the headlines. Johnson was out in front and gone with Wainwright chasing him, Filby was making his way through the pack with 15 Brad Moss closely following until Filby went for a big roll over and get collected by 168 Sam Chambers with three laps to go. the result was called with 3 laps to go denying the crowd of a 3 lap shootout for the win, but in the circumstances we are all just happy that Anthony was ok after what was quite the spill.
Congratulations to Jeff Johnson on his first feature final victory #OnTour.

With Sundays race winners heading home, the opportunity was there for new winners this weekend . Sam Chambers had to pop off to the Hospital before the meeting and we were joined by 522 Paul Collins for the day.
Collins and Rispin lead the field away for the first time today and were quickly caught and passed by Sam Wainwright. Colin Moss and Brad Moss had a go od battle for a couple of laps and new driver James Taylor was beginning to look like he was getting the hang of his new car. 15 Brad moss became the lead chaser to 227 Wainwright but as the laps ran out so did Moss' chase.
1st, 227 Sam Wainwright, 15, 85, 785, 155, 522
Collins and Rispin lead the field away again and we were all pleased to see 168 Sam Chambers had returned and was well enough to get out on track for heat 2. Sam Wainwright. Colin Moss and Brad Moss had a good battle for a couple, 522 Paul Collins decided to test the marker tyres on the exit of turn 4 and was pointing skywards for a moment. . 15 Brad moss became the lead chaser to 227 Wainwright and this time did catch the leader. with 5 laps to go. 227 Wainwright and 15 Moss swapped positions it seemed every lap until with 2 to go they collided and that was the end of the race for both the leaders having to retire with punctures. Chambers was now out in front with 85 Colin Moss chasing hard and 785 Taylor keeping pace and the top three crossed the line together.
Heat 2, 168 Sam Chambers, 85, 785, 155, 522
Paul Collins lead the field away with Chambers and Taylor. Chambers moved to the lead after a couple of laps and Wainwright again made his way towards the front. Taylor was having his best run of the weekend and was matching pace with Wainwright as he took the lead. Taylor moved passed Chambers and 15 Moss was now closing in. Taylor over cooked it into 1 and 3 and span with 15 Moss to close to avoid trapping the 15 car. This let Chambers and 85 Colin Moss through for them to take up the chase of the leader. 85 Moss moved past Chambers but there was no catching Wainwright as he raced to his 2nd win of the day.

At the 11th hour, The management team of Tongham Motor club reached out to us and asked if we would like to bring the Tour to Tongham?
After previous talks back in 2019 where we were unable to confirm a date this was a welcomed surprise, and although this would mean we would need to add an extra date to the tour schedule we couldn't give up this opportunity. So on the 24th of April 2022 , V8 stock cars returned to Hampshire and what a great day. We would like to thank ALL the committee members of TMC for making this happen and hope we did you all proud.
Unfortunately James Taylor 785 retired before the green flag with an electrical issue. But the field of V8's lead away by Ben Edwards 418 powered into action. Jeff Johnson was the first man to challenge for the lead and once passed drove a great race to come home the victor. The remaining places were battled out through the race with 98 Peter Scott, 227 Sam Wainwright and 15 Brad Moss crossing the line in close proximity at the flag.

Unfortunately some of the teams were unable to get out for heat 2, But the drivers that did make it out put on a fantastic show. Early race leader 536 Jeff Johnson was being chased by 98 Peter Scott who was closing the gap each lap, But unfortunately for him disaster struck and the 98 car slowly came to a halt. 227 Sam Wainwright but the Green Machine was not to be caught. Brad Moss got passed Wainwright in the closing stages.
1st 536 Jeff Johnson, 15, 227,
Not dis-similar to the previous race Johnson moved to the front early on with Wainwright and Moss in hot pursuit, 85 Colin Moss and 785 James Taylor were having a race long battle but up the front as the laps dwindled down it looked as though Wainwright was in position to stop Johnsons bid for a maximum point score. The last lap board was shown as the cars hurtled into turns 1. The 227 car got too close to the inner barrier and clipped it only to be spun buy 15 Moss in third. This left the way clear for Jeff Johnson to claim his 3 race win of the day and in doing so became the 1st driver in 2022 to hit a maximum points haul.

After a hectic start to the 2022 series the V8 stock cars tour teams were back at Ringwood raceway for the 2nd visit of the year. Last time outs race winner and local starman Jeff Johnson was unable to attend with his green machine due to issues with the rear end. We were also joined by two more new drivers to the #V8TOUR. 117 Bill Chance was returning to the ovals after a good few years away. Also joining was Max White (89a) who was using the 89 machine of Bryan Scott as Bryan is recuperating a previous injury.
The conditions were not friendly to the new drivers today, A wet surface and continued light rain made the going tricky for all the competitors. 418 Ben Edwards showed the field the way round. the Poole based driver was making the most of his experience at Ringwood and stretched a fair lead early on. 227 Sam Wainwright and 15 Brad Moss were the chasers and as the laps wound down Wainwright got close but never quite close enough. 98 Peter Scott and 85 Colin Moss had a coming together in the last few laps whilst battling for 8th and 9th.
In the end it was Ben Edwards who claimed his first victory on the V8 stock cars tour in only his 3rd meeting.

The track conditions were slowly getting worse for the drivers. Not that you would have known the way the cars were battling throughout the field. 98 Peter Scott had sorted his misfire in the pits and was back to his 2022 Ringwood form. 117 Bill Chance was making a good showing in this race as he reacclimatized himself with v8 stock car racing. Unfortunately his race was cut short as he picked up a puncture. 15 Moss was chasing down the race leader Scott after half distance with race 1 winner 418 Edwards keeping both drivers honest. 98 the flying Scott was not to be denied and slid, skimmed and danced his way to victory.

98 Peter Scott continued where he left off in heat 2, Made his way through the field in quick time with 15 Moss following through the hole he made. as the last lap boards came out, there was potential for an upset as the leaders caught some backmarkers which allowed Moss to close the gap considerably but Scott was still to good to beat tonight.

An extra race was offered to the drivers tonight, Which becomes the Chase for the Gold qualifier for this round and this was another great race. Still wet but drivers were getting the grips with the challenge. New driver 89a Max White had his best drive and showed that he has the right attitude and has driving ability. It's never easy to get out there but this was a tricky meeting to start. 155 Jimmy Rispin was having his best meeting of 2022 and was starting to look like a potential future race winner. Also our man from Birmingham 522 Paul Collins had his best race at the end of the evening. but when the chequered flag fell it was 98 Peter Scott again who saw it first.

A couple of drivers didn't make it out on Monday but we were joined by 406 Chris Snell for today's event. The weather was a lot kinder today and faast furious action was on the cards for today.
522 Paul Collins got out to an early lead in this on and was being chased by a quick 418 Ben Edwards. As Edwards moved into the lead 117 Bill Chance moved past 155 Jimmy Rispin for 3rd. 85 Colin Moss was on the hunt as he moved through the field at a rapid rate. The weather was much more to his liking today and it showed early on. 356 Anthony filby had a coming together with the home straight fence bringing out the yellow flags for a loose wheel. the cars lined up in single file and circulated for a few laps until race control was happy and then the cars were off again. in a pack and the action was hectic. 98 Scott and Moss made the better restarts racing from 8th and 9th to 2nd and 3rd in the first 2 laps of the restart. Scott then passed 418 for the lead and 85 Moss moved the 418 car to the fence into turn 1. the 85 car then slowed and dropped to the rear of the field. 98 Peter Scott drove away from 15 Moss and the other places were sorted out as the cars completed the remaining laps.

The highs and lows of stock car racing were brought to the fore in this race. 117 Bill chance was on a mission. Absolutely flying. He made his way to the front of the field and looked to be cruising to his first win on the #V8TOUR until the yellow flags then RED flags came out for 2 stranded cars on the entry to turn 3. Unfortunately for BIll he was unable to hear race controls instructions and was removed from the race for safety reasons. this promoted 98 Peter Scott to the lead. On the re-start 15 Brad Moss moved the 98 car wide into turn 1 and was into the lead. Was Peter Scott going to be denied?
NO !
First the flying Scott got back passed and he was followed by 85 Colin Moss into 2nd as well. a close finish and a furious last 3 laps.

Honestly I can't remember much about this race, It was a long weekend and the racing was so good and competitive, i just can't remember what happened. I do know that Peter Scott was the class of the field again and completed his hat-trick of wins and taking a maximum points haul back to Romford with him. 85 Colin Moss was determined to get passed 15 Brad Moss but found himself facing the wrong direction with 3 laps to go and ended up retiring from the race. 227 Sam Wainwright had one of his better drives on tarmac as he came very close to the runners up spot.

Highlight of the fourth regular Rolling Thunder Show Saturday evening of the year (now co-promoted by Pete Gould’s PRI) was the first of four scheduled visits by the V8 STOCK CAR TOUR. Report from http://www.racer.one/ there are many photos of the event on their page also.
On a warm sunny evening, eight of the V8s turned up and put on their usual entertaining show. The first heat was led away by Birmingham driver Paul Collins in the only-Rover-engined car in the field (all the others were 350 Chevy-powered), but he was passed first by Sam Chambers and then by veteran racer Peter Scott, and the Romford driver then kept the famous Ahern colours in front. Brad and Colin Moss closed right up in the closing stages, but when Colin put the bumper in on Brad on the last lap, it sent Colin sideways; he was clouted in turn by Ben Edwards, who spun out. Brad took second from Colin, Ant Filby, Sam Chambers, Paul Collins and Staines-based Irishman Jimmy Rispin.

Heat two saw Colin Moss coming through to be the first to challenge Paul Collins for the lead, and when Colin hit the front he stayed there all the way, chased by Peter Scott. Gold top champion Brad Moss and points champion Ant Filby raced side by side, swapping places on every corner, for virtually the whole race, with Brad coming out on top from Ant, while Sam Chambers, Paul Collins, Ben Edwards and Jimmy Rispin were all lapped by the leaders.

Paul Collins held on for six laps in the lead of the final, but when Ben Edwards challenged him on the outside, Peter Scott shot through on the inside of them both, and Pete was never again challenged for the win. Brad Moss emerged in a clear second, while it was Colin Moss’ turn to battle with Ant Filby, Colin ending up third from Ant and Ben Edwards, with Sam Chambers and Jimmy Rispin completing the finishers after Paul Collins pulled off.

Our final visit to Ringwood raceway for 2022 and we would like to thank everyone there for a fantastic few rounds there this year.
Early race leader Jimmy Rispin 155 was caught after 3 laps by a very quick Ben Edwards in 418. Ben once out in front was making the most of the clear track and started to stretch out a good size lead. 15 Brad Moss, 98 Peter Scott and 227 Sam Wainwright were in a race long battle which eventually saw the 227 and 15 cars having a coming together. ending both drivers chances of a top three finish. 98 Peter Scott eventually took up the lead in the dying stages and Colin Moss who was having a quite race capitalised on the misfortune of others to get 2nd.

At the start of heat 2 it was 522 Paul Collins who lead the field away. 418 Ben Edwards was again the first driver to mount a challenge for the lead on lap 3 moving the early leader aside. 227 Wainwright was on a charge after his disappointment from heat 1 and had broken away from the pack at the rear of the field. 155 Jimmy Rispin went for a spin on lap 6 on the bottom turns as Colin Moss retired with rear axle damage. Peter Scott, Paul Collins and Brad Moss managed to find room in turns 1 and 2 to go three wide as they battled for 4th place at about mid point. As Wainwright closed in on the leader, Scott and Moss closed in on Jeff Johnson 536 who was in third. Wainwright moved into the lead with about 6 laps to go and didn't look like he was going to be caught. Both Scott98 and Moss15 moved past Edwards418 in the closing stages .
1st 227 Sam Wainwright, 98, 15, 418, 536, 89, 155
This race was a battle between 227 Wainwright, 98 Peter Scott and 15 Brad Moss. the three drivers quickly made there way through the field and into the top three positions. The bumpers were going in, places were swapping on a lap by lap basis. Again Wainwright fell victim and was half spun on the top turn leaving Moss and Scott to tussle it out for the win. And again for the 4th time in May Peter Scott finished the feature final in top spot. Ben Edwards finished in third and Bryan Scott in his 89 car had his best result of the day as well.

With the imminent closure of the venue, This was potentially the last time the V8 stock cars tour could visit the south coast venue. After visiting once a year to the south coast venue it has will leave a hole in our schedule for the forthcoming years.

Peter Scott was not the dominant force today on dirt. He was still however the highest point scorer but finished the day winless.
The Stars of the V8 stock cars tour were welcomed onto the raceway by another huge crowd at smallfield. The enthusiasm was palpable as the driver launched into action. early race leader 785 James Taylor was at the wheel of his new car. Whilst Peter Scott looked to be the first of the challengers until he went for a spin on lap 3. Sam Wainwright became the biggest threat to Taylor as the race went on, Which saw Jeff JOhnson 536 beached on the inner banking. Wainwright made it to the front and with 15 Brad Moss closing rapidly in the closing stages it looked at one point like there was going to be a grandstand finish to heat 1 but Wainwright was too smooth and too quick to be beat.

A completely different surface for race 2 as the track had dried considerably in the afternoon sun,
Jimmy Rispin 155 lead the cars away at the beginning of this race. Jimmy is having a good year points wise and is proving that consistency and attendance is the key to good results. Taylor moved past after a few laps but had suspension issues soon after. 538 Jeff Johnson soon blasted his way into the lead and on a dry (dusty) surface made the best of a clear track and a big lead. 98 Peter Scott was now up to 2nd but wasn't able to close the gap. the battle for 3rd was hotly contested by 227 Sam Wainwright and 15 Brad Moss with Wainwright moving Moss out wide on the last lap to secure third.

On the drop of the green flag, 85 Colin Moss, heat 2 race winner and series champion 356 all miss judged how slippery the surface was going into turn 3 and found themselves in the outside banking. 356 Filby rode up the bank and sedately rolled onto his side. the 85 car picked up extensive damage to his outside front wheel ending his day. 536 Johnson was able to rejoin for the re-start.
Taylor shot out to an early lead. with Wainwright giving chase for the whole race it wasn't until the closing stages when Wainwright moved to he lead. Only for 785 Taylor to come back at him and hit the 227 car into the banking. This left 785 free to cruise to his first V8 Stock cars tour victory. 98 Peter Scott and 15 Brad Moss had uneventful races coming home 2nd and 3rd
